Stateside Foods Employees are entitled to one paid volunteering day each year through our Community Volunteering Scheme!
This fantastic initiative gives colleagues the opportunity to give back to local communities by supporting charities and community organisations with their time, skills, and expertise. Since spring, 9 colleagues have been out into the community to support local causes.
A huge thank you to Bill (Health & Safety) and Aleks (Firebird Production), who volunteered a day in June to support The Hub, Westhoughton. Despite working on one of the hottest days of the year, the pair rolled up their sleeves to help with a range of much-needed maintenance tasks.
Together, they repaired damaged walls, prepared surfaces for painting, decorated the hallways, reception area and accessible toilet, installed protective corner edging to help prevent future damage, and repaired chairs in the reception area. All materials and equipment were kindly provided by The Hub.
Reflecting on the day, Bill said:
“It went really well and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. It was incredibly hot, but they kept us supplied with plenty of water and lunch! Aleks and I managed to get a lot done, and although it was a busy day, it was very rewarding to be able to support such an important local community organisation.”Tyler (Compliance) spent his volunteer day at the Bolton Hospice Charity Shop in Horwich:
“Recently, I had the pleasure of volunteering at the Bolton Hospice Charity Shop in Horwich, and it was a truly rewarding experience.
During my volunteer day, I worked on the till, helping customers with their purchases, and also supported the team behind the scenes by sorting and preparing donated items ready for sale. It was eye-opening to see just how much work goes into running the shop and how every donation helps raise vital funds to support the incredible care provided by Bolton Hospice.
What made the day especially memorable was the amazing team. Everyone was so welcoming, supportive and passionate about the work they do. Their commitment to supporting the hospice was inspiring, and it was clear that every volunteer and member of staff plays an important part in helping the charity continue its invaluable work.
I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at the Horwich shop for making me feel so welcome. It was a privilege to spend the day with such a dedicated team, and I would encourage anyone who has the opportunity to make use of our Volunteering Programme. It’s a fantastic way to give back to the local community, support an amazing cause, and make a real difference.”
A huge thank you to Bill, Aleks and Tyler for getting involved and making a difference — we look forward to sharing more colleague volunteering stories soon!
