Charity Football Fundraiser raises more than £2000 for Bolton Hospice!

On Thursday 9th May, colleagues from Stateside Foods took part in a charity football match at FC United Stadium to raise money for Bolton Hospice.

The day got off to a challenging start with a sponsored walk, Team Stateside walked from Stateside Foods to the Stadium, a walk of 17 miles! If the walk wasn’t enough, some of the walkers then went on to play the match too! It was a beautiful day for the walk; Dennis Thomas, Scott Field, Matt Brown, Shauna Wilson, Penny Wilson, Damion Wilson, Wendy Brown, Stacey Bradley and Tyler Baxter all completed the challenge in time to cheer on our teams at the Stadium. Well done!

The first match was played by Horwich RMI Under 14’s, sponsored by Stateside Foods, who took to the pitch and experienced the fantastic atmosphere of playing a game at a stadium. They raised a brilliant £250 towards our fundraising for Bolton Hospice.

Next up was the Stateside Blues vs Reds; colleagues from across all departments of the business came together to play and ultimately strive to win the Stateside Cup for their team. Cheered out onto the pitch with the Bolton Hospice mascot ‘Cyril the Squirrel’, the full stadium experience was one to be enjoyed by all. It was a competitive game throughout and a great match was played by both teams. The final score was 2-1 to the Stateside Reds who were presented with the Stateside Cup!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the event by walking, playing, cheering on our teams and buying raffle tickets; including the families of the Horwich RMI Under 14’s Football Club who also played on the day. Many thanks to the local businesses who kindly donated over 60+ raffle prizes. Thank you to ‘Cyril the Squirrel’ the Bolton Hospice mascot who cheered out our teams- kindly volunteered by one of our employees.

The event couldn’t have taken place without the support and dedication from our colleague Dennis Thomas who kindly organised the event- A huge thank you!

The final figure raised from the event continues to rise but we are hoping to have raised almost £2500 for Bolton Hospice- which is fantastic! Funds raised will go towards making a huge difference to the vital care and services that they provide to those in our Bolton community facing a life limiting illness.

We look forward to organising another sporting fundraiser later in the year!
