Congratulations on your Retirement…

On Friday 2nd February, we celebrated the retirement of Michael Tomkinson (Mickey) as he completed his final shift at Stateside Foods. He was presented with a cheque by Ian Kent (Commercial Director) and Stuart Taylor (Operations Manager).

Mickey has worked for Stateside Foods for almost 28 years and we wish him well as he commences his retirement. His manager Adrian writes:

“In the tapestry of Stateside Foods’ history, there are threads that stand out as vibrant and enduring. One such thread is Michael Tomkinson, affectionately known as Mickey, who is bidding farewell to the company after an illustrious career spanning nearly 28 years.

Mickey began his journey with Stateside Foods on April 23, 1996, marking the commencement of a dedicated service that has left an indelible mark on the company. Throughout his tenure, Mickey’s commitment to excellence and unwavering work ethic have been a source of inspiration for colleagues across various departments.

Originally a member of the engineering department, Mickey’s skills and adaptability saw him transition seamlessly to the hygiene department at Wingates. Here, he played a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness by meticulously stripping machinery for thorough cleaning—a task that requires precision, diligence, and a deep understanding of the intricacies of the equipment.

Mickey’s impact extends far beyond the tasks listed in his job description. His friendly demeanour and approachability have made him a familiar face across Stateside Foods. Colleagues from different departments know Mickey not just for his hard work but also for the camaraderie he brought to the workplace.

An interesting anecdote that underscores Mickey’s longstanding association with Stateside Foods is his pass number—number 7. As the company evolved over the years, Mickey remained a constant, adapting to changes and contributing to the growth and success of Stateside Foods.

As we bid farewell to Mickey, we take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for his nearly three decades of service. His legacy of dedication, resilience, and camaraderie will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Mickey, as you embark on this new chapter of life, we extend our warmest wishes for a retirement filled with joy, relaxation, and exciting adventures. Your presence will be deeply missed, but your legacy will continue to inspire us.

Thank you, Mickey, for 28 years of exceptional service and friendship.”
