As a Diamond Patron of Bolton Hospice, we were invited along to attend the Bolton Hospice patron and supporters lunch on Wednesday 15th November at Bolton University.
We heard from Judith Bromley, Bolton Hospice Chair, as she spoke about the continued pressures faced by the hospice following the news that their expected costs were to be 1.2 million more than their income.
Judith was delighted to share that since the launch of the urgent Cost of Living appeal earlier this year, the Bolton community has raised an extra £450,000 to ensure the hospice can continue caring from the heart.
Despite the amazing efforts of the community , the hospice aren’t quite out of the woods yet- as the current financial deficit for this year is in the region of £750,000. This unsustainable position has arisen following many years of below inflation increases to their government NHS funding, which is why they remain resolute in their efforts to secure a fairer contribution to the cost of their services from commissioners to avoid cutting their vital services to local people. They are hopeful that a decision will be reached by the end of the year.
So far this year, Stateside Foods have sponsored many hospice events such as: the big dip, the annual golf day, the £50 challenge, the my memories walk and fundraising events such as the T20 charity cricket match, the ‘Steptember’ 300,000 step challenge and also our colleague Cheryl Lally who took part in the annual Strictly learn to dance competition.
We would like to extend the thank you from Bolton Hospice to everyone at Stateside Foods who have supported this years fundraising efforts.
